Actual Madrid rumors refuted as Manchester United set off Paul Pogba contract extension — RT Sport Information

French world champions Paul Pogba appear to be staying at Old Trafford despite Real Madrid’s interest as Manchester United sparked a one-year contract extension for the player whose contract was due to expire next summer.

Manchester United Academy graduate 27-year-old Pogba returned to the Premier League club in a world record transfer in 2016 after a Serie A stint with Juventus. However, the playmaker has been linked to several major player-money transfers in recent months.

Long-time admirer Real Madrid was linked with a move for the player whose contract status would have allowed him to receive a free transfer next summer. However, United have allayed concerns that they may not get a transfer fee back for the Frenchman after extending their contract in 2022.

“Paul is our player, he will be here two more years and I am sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us and we want to see the best of Paul,” said Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer .

“Well, I’m sure we’ll get the best out of him in the next few years.”

Pogba has been the target of criticism for some of his early performances in the new Premier League season, as well as towards the end of the last, amid the gossip that the Talisman creator is a luxury player who has a tendency to fade into high profile fixtures especially after his side’s 6-1 home defeat to Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Pogba had recently sparked speculation in an interview that he should go to Real Madrid, where he admitted it would be a “dream” to wear the white shirt at the Santiago Bernebeu.

“All football players would love to play for Real Madrid,” he said.

“It’s a dream for me, why not someday?

“I’m in Manchester and I love my club. I play in Manchester, I have fun and I want to do everything I can to get the club where it deserves.”

“I’ll give everything like my team-mates.”

The contract extension means that next season Real Madrid will be forced to pay a couple for the player if they want a transfer for the player for whom they already have a potential future ‘Galactico’ in mind.
