Distress for axed Russian UFC fighter as his luxurious Lexus is STOLEN after return from Combat Island — RT Sport Information
Released UFC fighter Khadis Ibragimov has suffered more pain since his fourth straight loss in Abu Dhabi and suffered a robbery on his car by a thief who he believes was watching the vehicle while away for his fight .
Two-time European sambo champion Ibragimov had just returned from his stint on the UFC’s “Fight Island”, where he prolonged his defeats with promotion when his Lexus for two million rubles ($ 26,000) from outside his home in Saint Petersburg was stolen.
The robbers struck the day before news of Ibragimov’s release by the UFC after his unanimous loss to newcomer Danilo Marques at UFC 253.
Ibragimov said he made no suspicions after alerting police when he discovered his car was stolen between 9:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. the next day.
“I understand someone followed me,” the light heavyweight told 78.ru.
“I was gone for nine days. Apparently my car was being ‘worked’ on during that time.”
Officials have launched a search for the criminal and the car after examining CCTV footage allegedly showing a mysterious person approaching the car and activating the alarm before getting in and driving off.
There have been a number of similar incidents across town in recent weeks, including the theft of a Hyundai Genesis two weeks ago and the arrest of two mid-30s thieves suspected of stealing a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Land Rover.
The suspects in the case, who are based in nearby Vsevolozhsk, found 11 sets of state license plates, 41 sets of car keys, devices for stealing cars and starting engines, and documents for various vehicles in their homes.
Ibragimov had high hopes for his first UFC win before his overwhelming loss to Marques in a bout that featured little excitement.
He had shared a behind-the-scenes video of UFC President Dana White, in front of the map led by Paulo Costa and Israel Adesanya, in which the promoter had hyped the fight that started the Yas Island bill.
“”[He] I think my fight will be the fight of the night, “said the Russian on Instagram to his followers of almost 11,000.
“I will try not to let him down. It is very nice that he loves my fights.”
White had interspersed his words with clips of Ibragimov beating Ed Herman during his previous November decision defeat. He had stated, “If you haven’t seen Ibragimov fight, you can’t miss this.”
“He comes out at an insane pace every time, with this ‘live by the sword, die by the sword’ mentality that always produces incredible action.
“With the aggressive nature of these two guys, this could become an early contender for Fight of the Night.”
Ibragimov had won all eight of his professional fights before joining the UFC, including four consecutive stoppages for St. Petersburg-based M-1 Global in 2018 and 2019.
