Lomachenko vs. Lopez reside updates for Las Vegas showdown

The American Teofimo Lopez scored the most significant victory of his short career and unanimously made the decision to win Vasiliy Lomachenko, the undisputed lightweight world champion in the boxing bubble at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The judges scored the bout 116-112, 119-109, 117-111.

Lopez retained the IBF title and claimed Lomachenko’s WBC franchise, WBA, and WBO titles.

The 23-year-old Lopez did most of his damage in the first few rounds and then withstood a barrage from his Ukrainian opponent who is considered to be one of the most technically flawless fighters in the history of the sport.

Lopez (16-0, 13 KO), known as a co-artist, showed his own unusual technical brilliance, especially in the 12th and final round.

Lomachenko (14-2, 10 KOs) came into play in the later rounds but failed to make up for a slow start in one of the most anticipated fights of recent times.
